Citigroup-INSEAD’s Financial Education Exchange Interviews Kathleen Stack

Citigroup-INSEAD’s Financial Education Exchange, an on-line resource for financial education practitioners in the Asia Pacific Region, recently interviewed Kathleen Stack, Vice President of Program Development.  Ms. Stack spoke about Financial Education for the Poor, a project funded by the Citigroup Foundation and led jointly by Freedom from Hunger and Microfinance Opportunities to improve the financial literacy of the poor.  Ms. Stack noted that the curricula were developed based on market research and pilot testing, and that they seek to strengthen and change behaviors to lead to increased incomes, better management and protection of scarce assets, and effective use of financial services.  The next phase of the project, according to Ms. Stack, will focus on dissemination, using a cascade approach and starting with a series of training-of-trainer workshops that will be conducted in five regions around the world, followed by a number of in-country trainings to support strong institutions that will implement training in their own countries. The objective of this approach is to develop a cadre of master trainers who will deliver financial education throughout the world. To read the interview, follow the link.
