- Articles
Freedom from Hunger staff share what we have learned by writing commentary, articles and chapters for trade publications, technical journals and books. We are pleased to provide the following list of published works authored or co-authored by Freedom from Hunger staff both past and present, all of which are available for free download in pdf format or by link to other websites.
- Research Reports
The challenges inherent in supporting the self-help efforts of the chronically hungry poor beg for innovation to achieve greater scale, impact and sustainability. With our commitment to such innovation comes our commitment to rigorous research that puts our innovations and those of other organizations to the test of evidence from the field. We are pleased to make our research reports available to all who are interested in evidence-based innovation.
- Educational Modules
Freedom from Hunger has developed a distinctive approach to learner-centered education for women who come together regularly in groups for access to financial services. The education is designed for use by trained facilitators in rural communities in which literacy is very low or absent and households do not have access to basic lifeskills knowledge, which keeps them poor and often chronically hungry. The education topics deal with common problems of health and nutrition as well as management of household money and micro-businesses.
- Microfinance and Health Protection Documents
Freedom from Hunger's MAHP initiative found that health protection services and products have a positive impact not only on clients but also on the financial bottom line of the microfinance institutions (MFIs). The materials we offer here include our research findings that document the impact of health interventions on clients and on the MFIs, as well as a set of technical guides that we hope will be of use to others who seek to replicate or build on our efforts to show how microfinance and health protection can be integrated cost-effectively.
