Operational Manuals
Freedom from Hunger has extensive experience in the implementation of value-added microfinance programs, both as implementing agency and advisor to other practitioner organizations. Much of this experience has been documented to support training and technical assistance for microfinance institutions (MFIs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Africa, Asia and Latin America to deliver value-added microfinance. We are offering operational manuals that enable MFIs to operate the main components of a Credit with Education program, NGOs to operate the main components of a Saving for Change program, and both to manage for social impact as well as program efficiency and sustainability.
Some manuals are available in pdf format for free download (in exchange for minimal information to allow future user surveys online)—indicated by
in the list of manuals below. Use of these downloadable modules should be self-explanatory, but training in their use is also available from Freedom from Hunger. Other manuals are currently available only by direct engagement of Freedom from Hunger staff for training in the use of the manuals. These limited-access manuals are indicated by [different icon] in the list of manuals below. Click on training for further information. You may also contact programs@freedomfromhunger.org for further information or any of Freedom from Hunger’s regional offices. Most manuals have been translated into French and/or Spanish.
We sincerely hope you will find these operational manuals useful for understanding and implementing Credit with Education and Saving for Change programs and related forms of value-added microfinance.
